Reflexive Verbs

I am finding that people way over use this form in Mexico and often unecessarily and incorrectly

​

For example...

​

You want to say

'I want to go'

​

You should be able to say

yo quiero ir

​

But people say

me quiero ir

I want myself to go

 

or

 

quiero irme

I want to go myself

​

Last night, my neighbor wanted her grandfather to open the gate to the house. She said, 'abreme'

​

Technically she was wrong

she was saying,

open me

 

This is a reminder that people speak how they speak and language evolves so not all spanish speakers are speaking textbook spanish

​

That should not be a frustration, it should be an encouragement.

languages are spoken in 2064.
